Accidents will happen

Blair slinked from the elevator to the door of the Major Crime bullpen. Jim would not be happy with him. It really wasn't his fault though, it was an accident. It could have happened to anyone.

Peeking his head through the door, Blair saw that Jim was not in at the moment. Okay, this might be okay. Maybe Jim was in court or something and would not see him until they were home and he had a good excuse ready.

Of course, court always put Jim in a bad mood, so maybe it would be better if Jim just came in now and got his yelling over with. The hovering after words wouldn't be much better, but Blair could at least deal with Jim in hover mode.

"SANDBURG! What happened to your arm?" Simon Banks, Captain of the Major Crimes Unit bellowed for everyone to hear.

"Nothing, Simon. It was an accident is all. Everything is fine," Blair said, trying not to think about all the eyes on him.

"Come on, Hairboy, did the loft get hit by a crime lord?" H asked, seeing that the younger man's arm was in a sling.

"No, the loft is fine, no one has hit it recently," he assured the junior detective.

"Maybe you and Jim went to a restaurant for dinner and it got taken over by terrorists?" Megan suggested, grinning.

"Nope, no terrorists this week, just me in an everyday accident," Blair said, sitting at Jim's desk.

"You and Jim went camping and a wild bear attacked you?" Simon suggested, puffing on his cigar.

"No wild animals involved this time," Blair said, booting up the computer, carefully not looking at any of his friends.

"You were out on a date, and she learned about your other girlfriends?" Rafe chuckled.

Blair had to grin at that one.

"No, no women were involved at all, either," Blair answered.

"You borrowed Jim's truck without asking?" Joel guessed as he brought the newest detective a cup of coffee.

"I'm still alive, Joel, so you know I didn't touch the truck," Blair responded seriously.

"WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO YOU????" Jim's roar was louder than Simon ever got.

Everyone jumped as the senior detective entered.

"It was a common everyday accident, Jim, nothing to worry about." Blair gulped as he looked up at Jim on one side and Simon on the other. Neither one was smiling.

"What happened, Blair?" they asked as one.

"Islippedandfellintheshower," Blair rushed out.

"You did what?" Simon asked, a grin beginning to form.

"I was in the shower and I slipped and fell. When I went to catch myself, I broke my wrist," Blair said more slowly.

"What really happened?" asked H, chuckling.

"That's what happened," Blair growled in imitation of Jim, his face red as an apple.

"Relax, Chief, we'll get a rail for the shower," Jim said comfortingly.

"Jim, don't! It was an accident!" Blair said, glaring at Jim.

"Okay, a mat then, one of those no slip things," Jim suggested.

"Fine, but I get to pick it out. A shark, maybe? Or a big flower?" Blair beamed.

Jim groaned as he imagined what Blair would get. But if it would keep his injury prone friend safe, any shape would do.

The end.
